Since I have a brilliant HTC Desire I'd like to share some of the magic. I'm going to use the opportunity to explain how to install Python on HTC Desire.

3 simple steps!

Step 1

The easiest way to install Python on Android is by installing ASE, that is easy to track down on Google. But I soon realized that it wasn't in the market. Hold your horses and don't give up all hope. Open up your browser and go to the ASE project on Google Code.

Step 2

Pick up your Android phone and launch a barcode scanner of your choice (I use "Barcode Scanner" available for free on the Market). Point it at the QR code (that's the strange looking barcode :).

Step 3

When you scan the barcode the phone will find the url of the installation package and you will see a screen like this:


All you have to do is select "Open browser" and your Android phone will download and install the package.

Voila! That's it.
